FROM THE SEAHAWKS BOARD: 2011 CAPITAL CAMPAIGN AND SWIM CLINIC UPDATE
All,
Thank you for your amazing support of the Brendan Hansen and Kathleen Hersey Clinic! Brendan and Kathleen flew in Sunday morning from the “Duel in the Pool”, where Kathleen set an American Record in the 200 SCM butterfly! The clinic was a rousing success. Over 110 swimmers attended the clinic, received an amazing gift bag from Mutual of Omaha and had the opportunity to get a photo and autographs from our gracious Olympians. We could not have pulled this off without the help of our parents and coaches. Charlie, Svetlana, Matt, Ed and Sean Hansen (Haverford School coach) were a critical component of the clinic and as always, we greatly appreciate their assistance. Paul Leander, Jim Hitchens, Denny Truax, Bob Yoshimura, John Seaman, Dean Sophocles, Dave Jablonski, Jay Hughes, Diane Mastrangelo and Terri Rhodes were instrumental in helping us register, set up, fill goodie bags and distribute hoagies to all of the participants. Beth DeBruyn and Terri Rhodes were our official photographers for the event; and we have some great new pictures for our website (see link below). A special thanks goes out to Carl Proetto for providing all of the hoagies for both sessions. Carl’s generosity was unbelievable and we would like to encourage everyone of you to visit his restaurant, Jim’s Steaks!!
As you know these clinics were a critical part of our ongoing capital campaign. As a reminder, our campaign has a goal of raising $50,000 to be earmarked for ultra-violet lights and a new timing system. Both of these items are critical to our vision of providing a premier, self-sustaining facility for our swimmers. We are off to a great start on the capital campaign and to date have received donations and pledges that total roughly $22,000. Any donation that you can make will make a big difference. We have received donations or pledges from parents, alumni and outside corporations that believe in what we are trying to accomplish. While the campaign will continue into next year, please consider a donation prior to the end of the year and your donation will be considered as tax deductible for 2011. Please look out for our campaign “thermometer” in the lobby over the next few days.
Thank you for your support!!!!

07/28/2011 - Re-Opening of Suburban Swim Center
It is with great anticipation and excitement that the Suburban Seahawks Board announces the September re-opening of the Suburban Swim Center on Gradyville Road. Since the unfortunate closing of the pool in December 2008, there has been a continuous negotiation with Wachovia Bank (now Wells Fargo). Ultimately, an acceptable deal was structured and the Board voted to move forward with the acquisition of the pool.
The SSC Board and our new General Manager, Diane Mastrangelo have... Read More Read Full Post
05/16/2011 - Charlotte ultra swim meet
Congratulations to CHARLOTTE ULTRA Swim meet swimmers
from Charlie on last weekend’s very successful meet:
Congratulations to our squad who represented us at the Charlotte Ultraswim Meet this past weekend. All of them had excellent swims. Stephanie Jeppesen, in only her second ever LC meet, swam 2 personal bests in the 100 and 200 Meter Breaststroke. Sherif Madhour and Doga Celik, although a bit sleep deprived after an adventurous drive, had solid performances. Sherif swam... Read More Read Full Post
